Executive Producer Jamie Nichols presents CELEBRATE DANCE 2010 Saturday, March 13, 2010 8:00pm at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California. The show will include a line-up of nine “knock out” dance companies and “smashing” new work from ingenious choreographers. CELEBRATE DANCE 2010 offers contemporary ballet on pointe, aerial, jazz dance, acrobatic, modern and edgy contemporary. Featuring: BARE Dance Company, Body Current Dance, Catch Me Bird, JazzAntiqua Dance and Music Ensemble, Josie Walsh’s MyoKyo, Macarena Gandarillas and Dancers (Visions Dance Theatre), Motion Tribe, PTERO Dance Theatre and RhetOracle Dance Company. *(program info follows below) All of this skillfully lit by lighting designer Eileen Cooley, the recipient of seven Lester Horton Dance Awards for Lighting Design.
This will be the fifth anniversary of the annual event and promises to be another exceptional night of dance for Los Angeles. For three consecutive years 2007, 2008 and 2009 CELEBRATE DANCE has been awarded the Lester Horton Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement for Festival and a considerable number of participants have received Lester Horton Dance Award nominations and awards from showing their work in the annual festival presented by “impresaria” Jamie Nichols. Continuing her commitment to community outreach, for three years Ms. Nichols has donated free tickets to underserved students. This year, with the generosity of The Flourish Foundation, she will bring 100 middle school students to the Alex Theatre to experience live concert dance, many seeing dance for the 1st time in a professional venue. For two years running the event has been a sell out show with enthusiastic audiences of all ages. Show time runs approximately 2 hours and is acceptable for all ages.
