LA Philharmonic Offers Free Concerts

News by Janet Thielke  |  January 25, 2010

The Los Angeles Philharmonic begins its 2009/10 Neighborhood Concert series with two free performances. Conductor and Dudamel Fellow Diego Matheuz will lead the orchestra on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at the Wilshire United Methodist Church, and Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex. For both concerts, the Los Angeles Philharmonic will perform Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro and two opera arias - Mozart’s “Dove sono” from Marriage of Figaro and “Or sai chi l’onore” from Don Giovanni -  featuring soprano Danielle Walker. The program will conclude with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4, “Italian.”

Diego Matheuz is a hand-selected participant of the Dudamel Fellowship Program, which provides each fellow the opportunity to develop his craft and enrich his musical experience through personal mentorship and participation in the LA Phil’s orchestral and education programs.

Tickets are free for both concerts. Reservations are strongly suggested and can be made by calling the Wilshire United Methodist Church at 818-845-4048 (Feb. 3 concert only) or the Luckman Fine Arts Complex at 323-343-6600 (Feb. 10 concert only). Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit LAPhil.com for more information.
