Advocacy Organizations and Municipal Arts Agencies

Americans for the Arts
Americans for the Arts is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. With 45 years of service, they are dedicated to representing and serving local communities and creating opportunities for every American to participate in and appreciate all forms of the arts. To achieve their goals, they partner with local, state, and national arts organizations; government agencies; business leaders; individual philanthropists; educators; and funders throughout the country.

Arts Council of Long Beach
The Arts Council for Long Beach acts as a coordinating and educational organization to foster, promote, encourage and increase the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts in the City of Long Beach. By supporting the artists in our community, together we create cultural opportunities and experiences for the people who live, work and play here.

Arts for LA
Arts for LA is a nonprofit arts advocacy organization working to foster a healthy environment in which arts and culture in our region may thrive and be accessible to all in Los Angeles. Incorporated in 2006, Arts for LA: advocates for increased support for artists and arts organizations, shapes public perception about the importance of arts and culture through the media and informed discussion, encourages member participation on policy, program and relation commissions and councils, builds cohesive strategies for local stakeholders to effectively advocate for increased support for the arts and arts education.

California Arts Advocates
California Arts Advocates (CAA), provides advocacy services for California’s arts community. CAA provides professional advocacy for all arts stakeholders in California, from the smallest troupe to the largest institution, from the solo artist to the largest organization, from the most diverse to the most mainstream, regardless of cultural segment or economic standing.

Culver City Office of Cultural Affairs
The Cultural Affairs Division  is responsible for the administration of the Cultural Affairs Commission and city-sponsored performing arts, visual arts, and historic preservation programs. The Commission’s purpose is to advise the Council on all matters pertaining to cultural affairs, including the City’s Public Art Ordinance, and to encourage and advocate for the expansion of cultural opportunities throughout the community.

Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles
The goal of the Department of Cultural Affairs is to enhance the quality of life for Los Angeles’ 4 million residents and 25 million annual visitors. They accomplish this goal by generating and supporting high quality arts and cultural experiences. They ensure access to those experiences through grant making, marketing, development, communication, and building relationships with our community partners. The challenge is to be a catalyst for the delivery of art, culture, and heritage to every neighborhood in the City of Los Angeles.

Hollywood Arts Council
The Hollywood Arts Council is a non-profit public benefit corporation dedicated to contributing to the quality of life in the community of Hollywood by promoting, nurturing and supporting the arts.The Hollywood Arts Council serves the community through advocacy, coalition building, free public arts events and after school programs. Hollywood Arts Council believes that the arts revitalize people as well as communities. It is toward this vision that the Hollywood Arts Council serves Hollywood.

LA Inc., the Convention and Visitors Bureau for Los Angeles
The mission of LA INC. the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau is to advance the prosperity of LA’s visitor economy and the livelihoods that depend on it.  In particular, LA INC. represents the LA destination to the meetings and convention industry nationwide; the international travel trade and traveler; the cruise passenger and cruise lines; the domestic leisure traveler; as well as the worldwide travel media.

Local Neighborhood Councils
The purpose of the Alliance of Neighborhood Councils is to open lines of communication all across to the City to share information and experiences; to make available information regarding the legal framework, responsibilities, and possibilities to each and every Neighborhood Council, either in formation or Certified; and to interface with the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment on common issues which impact the Citywide System of Neighborhood Councils.

Los Angeles County Arts Commission
The Commission fosters excellence, diversity, vitality, understanding and accessibility of the arts in Los Angeles County. The Commission provides leadership in cultural services for the County, including information and resources for the community, artists, educators, arts organizations and municipalities.

NoHoArtsDistrict.com
The NoHo Arts District is home to contemporary theaters, art galleries, cafes, and shops. The area features more than 20 professional theatres producing new work and classics, diverse art galleries, public art and professional dance studios, as well as the largest concentration of music recording venues west of the Mississippi. This website promotes the area and features current events.

Pasadena Arts Council
The Pasadena Arts Council supports and promotes the arts in the greater Pasadena area by encouraging the appreciation and participation in the arts among community members and organizations, facilitating and coordinating communications among arts organizations and the community at large, recognizing community members who show outstanding promise or make significant contributions to the arts, and advocating for financial support for the arts from public and private funding sources.

Veterans’ Artist Alliance
A multi-disciplinary, non-profit arts organization that provides opportunities for military veterans and those who are willing to help them in the arts.

Western States Arts Federation
WESTAF, the Western States Arts Federation, is a nonprofit arts service organization dedicated to the creative advancement and preservation of the arts. WESTAF fulfills its mission to strengthen the financial, organizational and policy infrastructure of the arts by providing innovative programs and services to artists and arts organizations in the West and nationwide.
