The Culver City Senior Citizens Association presents Benita Bike’s DanceArt in an interactive “Double Take” dance performance on Thursday, March 25, 2:00 pm, at the Culver City Senior Center, 4095 Overland Ave. in Culver City. This is a FREE performance suitable for all ages, and no reservations are necessary.
Benita Bike’s DanceArt is a fixture on Los Angeles’ contemporary dance scene. The company is known for its expressivity and musicality. “Double Take” programs include both live dance performance and discussion of the dances presented. Attendees come away with a whole new way of looking at dance and live performance. This is a great way to get an insider’s view of how dances are made and how the dancers do what they do.
This “Double Take” program features two dances: “Entrelazadas,” “VIDA Songs,” and selections from “Aliens.” “Entrelazadas” is a trio with a classical feel accompanied by music by Spanish composers Juan del Enzina, Gaspar Sanz, and Joaquin Rodrigo. “VIDA Songs” is an earthy quartet set to the luscious sounds of a cappella group VIDA, and “Aliens” is a fantasy where a creature in a parallel world learns about life.
