Deborah Behrens is an award-winning writer best known for her more than 75 one-on-one cover story profiles and features for LA STAGE including Annette Bening, Kirk Douglas, Angela Bassett & Laurence Fishburne, Ray Bradbury, Sir Ben Kingsley, Megan Mullally, Bill Pullman and Lily Tomlin. In April, she garnered the 2009 Maggie Award for Best Interview or Profile/Trade for her LA STAGE cover story on Joan Rivers at the Western Publishing Association’s (WPA) 58th annual Maggie Awards. Considered the most prestigious publishing awards in the western United States, the Maggies honor the best in print and online magazines representing 400 consumer and trade publications.
Deborah has occasionally covered theatre and the arts for the popular urban blog laist.com, and has also conducted investigative cover stories for Whole Life Times on organic wine, fast food and obesity as well as Valley Life magazine. She has been an LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award voter since 20o2 and is a former member of the theatre company etc. inc.
Her coffee table book project, Guts & Grace: Actresses at Midlife & Beyond garnered Deborah a literary agent who patiently awaits her quirky family memoir.
