David Elzer is a 2008/2009 Ovation Nominee in the Production of a Musical - Intimate Theatre category for LIFE COULD BE A DREAM. He has been nominated twice before in this category - once for THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES (he received the Ovation Award for this production), and once for WINTER WONDERETTES.
As an Ovation Award Nominee, LA Stage asked David the following questions:
What was the moment that first inspired you to pursue working in the theatre?
So many moments - but when i was six years old i saw DON’T BOTHER ME, I CAN’T COPE at the Huntington Hartford Theatre and they pulled all the kids up on the stage to dance at the end and from there i was hooked for life. SOMEONE IN A TREE in PACIFIC OVERTURES at the Dorothy Chandler sealed the deal.
What do you feel made the production you were nominated for particularly successful, either overall or for you specifically?
Roger Bean and an extraordinary cast and design team.
What project or projects are you currently working on?
Still working on the WONDERETTES franchise and trying to see what’s next for LIFE COULD BE A DREAM. Have two projects I hope to produce next year and I hope to work with Peter Schneider on one or two of his projects as well. Also, keeping DEMAND PR alive and thriving trying to promote in whatever ways possible how alive and vibrant our theatrical community is and how thrilling these productions are.
What do you love most about theatre in Los Angeles?
The sheer depth of the talent in front of and behind the scenes and the passion these artists have for the craft.
What’s your dream project?
You’ll see soon.

Hi David…
I follow your career through Bobbe’s emails. I so enjoyed “The Marvelous Wonderettes” (in which I took part - thank goodness I had a tissue in my bag!) I hope you win every award with “Life Could Be A Dream”. I can’t wait for it to come to New York…
Great luck - you richly deserve it!
